Butt Rub

This goes well on smoked pork butts. Also chicken.

Ingredients

Mix the following in a quart jar:

  • 1 cup Coarse Salt
  • 1 cup Smoked Paprika
  • 1/3 cup Coarse Ground Black Pepper
  • 1/3 cup Garlic Powder
  • 1/3 cup Onion Powder
  • 1/3 cup Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Turbinado Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Thyme
  • Red pepper flake (or your heat of choice) - OPTIONAL

Make it a sauce

  • 1 cup of the dry rub above
  • 1/2 cup (or more) Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 cups Vinegar
  • 1/2 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2 cup water
  • add more salt to taste, it will probably need it.

This sauce is best after sitting in the fridge for a few days letting all the flavors combine.
